Award Season Summary
Bringing Home the (Award-Winning) Bacon this Awards Season
To us at Eversfield Organic, award season is not just about adding another trophy to the cabinet or certificate to the wall. It’s about knowing just how good our produce is and that if a panel of foodie judges deem it worthy of an award, then we can rest assured that our customers will feel the same way. Putting our heart and soul into making the very best organic food is worth it when we receive the recognition we feel our organic meat deserves, not only for its incredible taste but for the effort put into making better, more sustainable produce. Whether it be from local food awards or in the national press, there’s no better feeling than the heart-warming goodness of a hard earned award, and this year’s season has been kind to us…
For Its Great Taste
The world’s largest and most trusted food and drink awards, the Great Taste Awards from the Guild of Fine Food, has over 14,000 entries every year. Whilst they give out 1 and 2 star awards too, only 1.5% of entrants win a prestigious 3-Star (the most you can get!) Award. Well, this year the panel of over 500 expert judges found our organic, 28 Day Aged Rib of Beef to be worthy of all 3 precious stars.
Our organic beef has a history of award-winning thanks to care and attention taken at every stage of its production. Slow reared with the highest standard of animal welfare, our grass fed beef from our farm in Devon is carefully hand cut from heritage Aberdeen Angus cattle. Our traditionally trained, expertly skilled butchers treat the organic beef with the respect it deserves, hanging the meat for a minimum of 28 days in our on-site butchery to develop a truly meaty and mature cut. We’re thrilled that the panel of judges found this to be a winning formula in the Great Taste Awards 2021.
What’s more, our organic Rib of Beef has gone one step further this year as it was nominated for a Golden Fork and Supreme Champion award. Only 33 of 14,000 entrants reach this stage of the competition each year, so we're beyond proud.
A Taste of the West
We’re big believers that the best of British food comes from our home region of the South West. Not that we’re bias, but our network of small, local farms in Devon produces some of the best organic meat around. At least that’s what the Taste of the West judges thought of our 28 Day Dry Aged Rib Eye Steaks. Our organic Rib Eye Steaks not only bagged a top of the range Gold Award, but also claimed the Meat and Poultry Champion title. We’re chuffed that the Taste of the West judges also found our organic, grass fed beef as tasty as we do.
Our 28 Day Dry Aged Beef Rib Eye Steaks have also graced the stage of the Great Taste and Food Drink Devon awards in years past as they continue to be an ever-popular choice. Taken from the forequarter of our grass fed, native cattle and hung for at least 28 days for a beautiful marbling and award-winning taste.
A Close Second
As much as we love our organic produce, we appreciate the other producers of organic food across the UK. This year’s Soil Association BOOM Awards were packed full of stiff competition, so to even be a finalist was a highlight for us. Our organic, grass fed Lamb Shoulder, Boned and Rolled made the final (above more than 500 entries) in the awards category of Best Organic Meat & Poultry, but narrowly missed out on taking home the title.
Whilst our Lamb Shoulder may not be an official winner, you can always count on it to deliver a winning meal. A beautifully marbled cut, carefully trimmed by our expert butchers from grass fed for life lamb. Their clover rich diet helps develop the fat marbling giving a delightfully meaty flavour and meltingly-soft texture when slow-roasted. Find out more here.
Top Quality Service
We’re also extremely chuffed to have earned a few awards for our work outside of organic meat production. We won Gold in the Food Drink Devon categories of Retailer of the Year and Business of the Year (alongside a Gold for our Organic Tomahawk Steak – it seems we just can’t stop producing award-winning meat), giving everyone across the business a little spring in their step.
In the Press
We’ve also had a lot of support from the press this year, with Good Housekeeping Magazine crowning us as Britain’s Best Beef Burger for our Beef Steak Burgers in their blind taste test and the Best Organic Meat Box for our Gourmet BBQ Box. Just recently, the magazine also listed us amongst the Best Christmas Recipe Boxes for our Turkey Banquet Box and Best Organic Whole Turkey for our Norfolk Black Turkey. In addition, the Independent also found our BBQ Boxes to be award-winning this summer as they favoured our Traditional BBQ Box.
A very successful awards season for Eversfield Organic is only achievable thanks to your continued support. Here’s to the next one…
